Unveiling Rare and Exquisite Blades from the Star Wars Saga

In the Star Wars universe, lightsabers are highly coveted weapons wielded by both the Jedi and the Sith. These incredibly powerful energised plasma blades come in different types, models and colours, which are usually a representation of their owner’s fighting style, individual needs and association with the Force.

In this article, we shall be taking a quick dive into some of the exquisite and rare lightsaber blades featured in Star Wars.

Mace Windu’s Purple Blade

In the original trilogy, members of the Jedi Order typically wielded blue and green lightsabers, so it was definitely a shocking site when Jedi Master Mace Windu ignited his lightsaber, and the blade turned out to be purple.

In addition to this rare purple colour, the lightsaber also had a sleek hilt with electrum detailing – a finish that was reserved for only the highest-ranking members of the Jedi Order.

The purple blade of Mace Windu’s lightsaber is one of the rarest Star Wars lightsaber blades, as the Jedi Master was the only one known to wield it. Many believe that this unique purple colour symbolised Windu’s ability to harness and understand the dark side without getting corrupted in the process.

The Lightsaber Whip (Lightwhip)

This is another exceedingly rare blade from the galaxy far far away. In terms of design, the lightwhip makes use of several small crystals to send energy through the strong but flexible cord that hangs from its hilt. Although not as strong as a traditional lightsaber, the lightwhip’s blade can still do a lot of damage (especially to flesh) in the hands of a skilled user.

This type of blade design is also quite dangerous and can lead to horrible accidents, so it was incredibly rare to find anyone who wielded it.

The Darksaber

This ancient lightsaber was created by Tarre Vizsla, the first Mandalorian to become a Jedi. What really stands out about the Darksaber is its angular hilt and a one-of-a-kind obsidian-black blade that has a white aura surrounding it. This unique blade also has a sharper edge shape that is quite different from the typical round shape of other regular lightsaber blades. Its length is also a bit shorter than that of regular lightsabers- a feature that makes it ideal for dual-wielding.

Kylo Ren’s Unstable Blade

The unique crossguard hilt and unstable nature of Kylo Ren’s lightsaber blade was something that immediately caught the eye of fans when they first saw the trailer for The Force Awakens.

The cracked and unstable nature of the blade, coupled with its intimidating red colour is what makes Kylo Ren’s lightsaber blade one-of-a-kind.

Asajj Ventress’ Split Saber

The lightsaber that Asajj Ventress wielded during the events of Clone Wars is another very rare type of blade. The weapon which is known as a split saber is essentially a double-bladed lightsaber with a unique S-shaped hilt that can be separated and used individually. Asajj Ventress favoured a dual-wielding combat style, so she preferred to disassemble the blades rather than using them together as a saberstaff.

Ahsoka Tano’s White Shoto Blades

Ahsoka Tano is another character who favoured a dual-wielding combat style, and her unique white shoto blades were one-of-a-kind. Ahsoka got her white lightsaber blades by healing and purifying the kyber crystals of a dead inquisitor’s lightsaber. The white colour of the blades represents Ahsoka’s neutrality to the Force and her rejection of the Jedi Order.

Exquisite Lightsaber Blades in Real Life

Just like the legendary Jedi Knights and Sith Lords in Star Wars, you, too, can wield the power of a rare and exquisite lightsaber blade with Neopixel lightsabers. These custom lightsabers have LED technology fitted inside their blades. With a lightsaber neopixel, you get to enjoy a host of amazing features such as; unmatched illumination (brightness), blade light effects (tip drag, flash on clash, blaster deflect, rainbow lights, flickering and pulsating lights), a wide range of authentic and customisable soundfonts and durability.

Conclusion

The Star Wars Saga has featured a plethora of different lightsaber blades, each with its own unique property and use. The Darksaber, Mace Windu’s purple lightsaber, Asajj Ventress’ split saber, Kylo Ren’s crossguard lightsaber, the lightwhip and Ahsoka Tano’s white shoto blades are just some of the blades that are quite rare in the Saga.
